Here are a few navigational tips and suggestions to help you "click" to the right spot.
How does change happen anyway?
There are many stages involved with change. Contemplating change (What do I need to change?), Preparing for change (How can I make it happen?), Action (What do I need to do to make change happen?) and Maintenance (How do I stay here?). What stage of change are you in?
Here are a few tips to help get you started to use this website. Your school will also provide you with training and required activities involving the "Student Tools'" and "Six Year Plan" menu items. The goal of this website is to help you get engaged in how high school "connects" to what you plan to do after you graduate.
Want to find out what is going on in your high school or a friends? Then choose the "HS Link" menu item and you can link directly to it.
Want to find out about ACT's process to help choose a career? Go to the "Self Help" menu item and select the ACT link....the rest is easy.
Want to go to college for free while you are still in high school? Click on the "PSEO" menu item. There's no limit to what you can do. Get prepared early.
Want to learn how to create an electronic "super resume'? Click on the "Efolio" menu item. 9th grade students at Johnson High School will get training on Efolio. It's cool.
Want a site that has "everything" right there for you? Click on the "Career Info" inside the Planning for After High School tab and then click on the "NJSCA" picture towards the bottom of the screen....or  | | Click your mouse on this picture and go to the "Go College" website | just click on the chameleon picture on this page. You'll be surprised how much information you can get from this "1" site and it's organized by category.
"My Six Year Plan" This is your own piece of the site and requires a password. All students will receive instruction on how to use this tool in grade 9. It will help you and others to connect high school to what you will be doing afterwards. It's a graduation requirement for the Classes of 2008 and beyond.
You just have to check out the" MCIS" menu item. It's like a Target Store......many of the things you need to make plans for the future are in this site. You will need a school login and password from your guidance office to get in. You can also get there by clicking on the ? mark on this page.
Wondering about what to do in high school? Check out the "Mapping Your Future" link in the Financial Aid menu. It's the first link listed on the explanatory page. It's a good starting point.
Are you a senior who needs to complete the FAFSA online? You can link directly to the FAFSA site through the Financial Aid menu item. How much will college cost?, How will I pay for it? Check out some of the other links in this section.
Need help in designing and writing a resume? One "click" of your mouse and you can be in the "Resume" menu item and get help.
Don't know what you want to do with the rest of your life? There are some good tools to help you in the "Self Help" menu item and in the Career Information menu item. I liked the "Career Key" link where I got to take an interest inventory. MCIS also has some good tools to help you sort things out and get ideas.
Check out the "High School Hub" link in the  | | Question Your Future & Get Some Answers. Clicking on the ? mark will take you to MCIS. You will need a login and password from your guidance counselor. | "Self Help" menu item. You can get help with your classes and play some cool games too.
Want to find out more about the ACT college entrance exam and register for it on line? Then go to the "Self Help" menu item and select the ACT link. You can also take a free "fully loaded" ACT or SAT practice test by clicking on the Test Yourself picture in the Self Help menu item.
Take a free interest inventory and find out about careers that match your answers by clicking on Planning for After High School, then click Career Info and then click on the "Career Zone" picture on the right side of the screen. This is a really helpful site and it's free.
You want to go to a small college in Texas, major in Business and keep the costs under $12,000/year. Is there a school like this for you? Use the "MCIS" menu item or click on the picture of the ? mark to the left and once you are in, select "School Sort". You can get a list of schools based on criteria of your own choice. Check it out. Its quick, easy and beats looking up a bunch of stuff in a books.
Want to become a "Wired Scholar"? Go to the "Career Information" menu item and select the "Wired Scholar" link. You can get help in preparing for a career, selecting a career, applying and paying for school......Get wired!
These are some some of the things you can do on this site to help you make decisions about your future. As you browse around the site you will find lots of useful "tools" to use and connections to information you need to know.
Use the websites to help collect data that you should enter into your Six Year Plan. In most cases you can just cut and paste.
